Library Website Features
Content Body
These are just some of the great features that the Library Website Programs offer:
Drupal is the open-source content management system of choice for public library websites. We have enhanced and adapted a number of Drupal's features to provide librarians with a user experience that empowers them to make frequent use of the content management tools.
Our websites enable librarians to maintain and manage their website content on a regular basis that fits their schedules, without the need for technical support staff or complex training.
The WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) content entry screen employs the look, feel and functionality of popular word processing programs. Our content management entry system (CMS) is easy to navigate, enabling quick changes and updates to be made on the fly.
You can quickly create entire new page sections and move content within pages. Images are easy to import and find within the system. An addition powerful feature is the automatic sizing of images to suit their placement in any page location.
Our search feature enables visitors to use keywords to find site information. It fully indexes all site-specific content.
Events entered into the Content Management System are displayed on the site in date order in: list, calendar, and detail views. When addresses are a part of an event entry, the system automatically links the address to Google maps so that site visitors have directions provided. The system automatically posts the more immediate upcoming events to the home page of the site and updates this information with the passage of time.
Librarians can deliver serialized and dated news and information to their patrons using the Blog features of our websites. We provide a blog for general library information as well as separate blogs for kids, teens, and seniors in all of our websites.
Our Customized Sites include unique page graphic design for the Home and general site pages as well as two additional page custom graphics for Children's, Teens, or Seniors pages. These designs are developed through a collaborative engagement between our designers and librarians. They incorporate images and themes that are unique to the communities served by each client library.
Library systems and districts supporting branch libraries can use these unique layouts and designs for their individual branches. Each branch can have access to their own content using our content management system and maintain a full set of pages and functionality focused on the communities they serve.
Customized Sites are designed with RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed aggregation on the home page. Frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts make it possible for library site visitors to keep up with websites, selected by the library, that offer RSS feeds. These feeds contain either a summary of content from the associated website or the full text.
